The Boathouse Fisheries is a local and traditional fishmongers in coastal Kent, offering fresh seafood sourced daily and directly from local fishermen. We deliver next day, always aiming to get your orders to you for lunch time.
We have a dynamic and supportive team. We’re dedicated to our trade and offer excellent service, keeping our business personal and friendly.
Boathouse Fisheries was founded in 2018 by Cieron and Richard whose vision it was to deliver high-quality seafood while supporting responsible fishing practices. Their commitment to provide the freshest catch of the day remains the Boathouse’s mission.
Cieron and Richard collectively have more than 40 years’ experience as fishmongers. Cieron, Head of Wholesale, has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to fish, knowing both where to source the best quality and how to prepare it. This means he can provide the very best produce to kitchens across Kent.
Richard is front and centre of the Boathouse, always ready to welcome our customers. He creates enticing displays for our retail counters using only the freshest quality fish at affordable prices.

I’d never been to a fish & chip shop where they showed me the actual fish they were going to cook for me. All I’d experienced before was seeing other shops pull some limp looking thing out and putting it in to cook – here I could see close up how fresh and fleshy the fish was. And when I tasted it … it was just amazing! By far the best fish & chip experience I’ve ever had.
I recently visited the Boathouse Fisheries in St Mary's Bay, and it was an excellent experience. The menu had a fantastic selection of food to choose from. I opted for the cod and chips, which were absolutely delicious. The fish was light and fluffy on the inside, and the chips were cooked to perfection. I also picked up some anchovies and smoked salmon to take away, and they were equally impressive. If you're in the area, I highly recommend a visit to the Boathouse Fisheries for great food and friendly service.
First visit to The Boathouse Fisheries and was treated to such a wonderful fish and chips supper. The team there are so friendly and their passion and knowledge of the fish was lovely to see. Left with some fresh fish from the counter which I really enjoyed cooking up the next day. Was great to learn that they deliver fresh fish too.

We ordered a Crab and Lobster platter for two, generous portion and wonderfully fresh. Plenty for everyone one to have a taste of the Crab, Lobster and yummy prawns with our Mediterranean family lunch. Ordered via Messenger as the phone lines were down. Thank you Lisa, will definitely be ordering again and popping in for some lovely fish when we are passing by!

The freshest of local fish, beautifully prepared and packed, always delivered punctually and with a smile.
We have been coming to the area for years and would always choose this as the best place to get local fresh fish. They have a great selection here But a limited amount so don’t wait too late in the day grab your fish or seafood. The staff have always been really lovely and really helpful and it just makes for great experience as they know a lot about their products. They have great selection of hot food which I’m gonna have to try, but it always looks amazing. Certainly worth the visit if you are anywhere near.

Amazing visit to the Boat House fisheries again. My hubby and I shared an amazing hot seafood platter. The food was all freshly cooked, tasted great and was very well presented. We will definitely be making this a regular treat 🙂
Fresh seafood midweek! The guys in the shop are great. They were really accommodating, seating us outside with our dog. We ate the lobster platter which was big enough for 3/4 people—two of us struggled to finish it. What a great experience.

Ordered a seafood platter for 2 for collection later the same day. It was absolutely gorgeous, so much variety, all fresh and tasty - and very generously portioned. Would highly recommend Boathouse Fisheries. Good healthy natural food, and very good value for money.
For all your seafood 🐟 🐠 🦀 🦞 needs I would highly recommend The Boathouse fisheries in Romney Marsh. She supplied me the most dreamy, delicious salmon Wellington for one of our Christmas meals. It was delivered to me all the way in Broadstairs, on a day & time of my choice (with a smile) & they are reasonably priced. She gave me the option of cooked or frozen along with cooking instructions. Oh & it was bloomin huge 😍 LUSH A week later & I'm still thinking about that Wellington.
After ordering from Leigh at Boathouse fisheries I was looking forward to my delivery. Leigh is in my network of BNI so I wanted to try them and I wasn’t disappointed! OMG the salmon en croute made by them is amazing! It’s so moist & flavoursome! Can’t wait to try the rest of my order! Thank you for delivering to me in Maidstone, amazing service! We had our lunch today on our anniversary today and was very impressed with the sea food and friendly atmosphere 😃 will certainly pop in again next time we are passing by for more 🤩
Stopped here 10 mins before closing time. Asked for fish and chips twice ( he heard me the first time!). Absolutely top quality cod and chips with the fish picked fresh straight from iced shop display. Chips were not your run of the mill type but apparently called "skin on chips" lovely and very tasty. Served with slice of lemon and tartare sauce. Also bought 2 x sea bass for following nights tea. Also lovely. Very knowledgeable and helpful service.
This fish shop, that has fresh fish on display, makes an amazing portion of fish and chips. Chips are skin on which is unusual but they are delicious. The fish was beautifully cooked and the batter crispy and light. Would recommend this fish shop. Lovely

Just had the most amazing luxury platter from The Boat House!! Was supposed to be for 2 people but we couldn't finish it! Super fresh, incredible selection, all tasted amazing, and delivered to my door! Couldn't ask for more!
Absolutely fantastic sharing platter, supposed to be for 4 but easily would have been a banquet for 6!!! Very adaptable so various dishes were substituted and it was no problem at all to do so. Highly recommended. Delivery is also available which is amazing for those of us not local to shop. Very happy repeat buyer. 🙂

After seeing various reviews on the internet for the boathouse fisheries my wife and I visited them this morning. We were super impressed with the establishment and they had an amazing selection of fish both on their wet fish counter and also their cooked deli counter. The prawn and chilli samosas were excellent! They also do freshly cooked treats which we will definitely be back to try. Thanks team. We will see you all again soon. Carl and Sara.
Amazing fish and chips as usual - so fresh and so tasty. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.
Very impressed with the availability of fresh fish. Wet fish counter: large prawns, squid, tuna, cod, salmon. Frozen too is available. They have a super seafood and fish menu very different from bog standard cockles, mussels etc. The crab spring roll was fab. The bacon and scallop baguette - three good things together are very good. Fish and chips were great, cod, plaice, huss, etc. Excellent crispy batter. Good skin on chips (I prefer skin on!). There are smoked haddock scotch eggs too but was too full. A few small tables inside, lots outside. No tea or coffee but they have cold drinks. Very nice staff.

A fresh fish gem in the area. Offering both options to eat in and takeaway, we were spoilt for choice. Ended up having an incredible salmon en croute, salt and pepper squid, and chilli prawn rolls. All the fish was cooked beautifully
Lovely portion of Rock Salmon or Huss and chips. It even had a little pot of tartare sauce. Such a vast array of 'fishy' things, soups, curries.
Heard good things about it...esp the fish n chips...but it was the chef's day off. So not great. However fresh fish looked good n also bought a brown shrimp spring roll...that was nice.
A couple of cod loins, pan fried in garlic, tomato and white wine sauce served with Albert Bartlett chips. Amazingly delicious.

Lovely fresh ingredients all individually packed and easy to follow cooking instructions. We set up a Friday fish night with our neighbors and we all love the fish and chips they are the best for miles around you couldn't get fresher fish anywhere and the service is also fantastic we all look forward to our Friday fish and chips. We won't go anywhere else. We recommend the boathouse fisheries 100% you won't be disappointed.
Bought some mussels yesterday and had them for dinner-they were up there with the best mussels Iv ever had! And even better is they were all prepped by the Boathouse so made cooking even easier! Highly recommend this place, have had a few items from there now and always very tasty.
Had a fantastic take away lunch from the Boathouse fisheries, dressed crab, salmon Cesar salad and the salt cod cakes were fantastic. The wet fish counter looked equally good. Would definitely recommend
Just finished our takeout lunch from here. We had the Monkfish Satay and crab rarebit. The Monkfish was delicious 😋 I cannot remember the last time I had a nicer meal! Perfectly cooked lovely light delicate flavour of the sauce and the flat bread/ paratha it was served on was deliciously warm and buttery all accompanied by a light fresh salad. The rarebit was delicious as well. Will certainly be returning next time we fancy a tasty lunch or dinner. Love the packaging as well.

We had a half side of salmon delivered this week for easter, it was absolutely gorgeous ! So tasty and it was enormous enough for about 10 regular sized portions so fantastic value too. Promptly delivered and using all the government guides for distancing too so very considerate . We are most definitely ordering more the standard of the food is excellent .

Very friendly staff. Fabulous fresh fish and seafood. They do fish and chips or you can pick a piece of fish and they can cook it for you or advise you how to do it yourself! sell things ( such as veg) to compliment your purchase. We had lobster, crab, mussels, cockles, prawns and jellied eels ( we we born in East London!) one new years eve and it was amazing. so fresh and flavoursome. Would highly recommend this local business.
bought Thai salmon fishcake very nice, however the brown shrimp pancake roll wow so tasty, looking forward to my quiche tomorrow. well worth the trip from Canterbury would recommend anyone to buy from your shop.

Really lovely fresh fish and seafood! I LOVED my dressed crab & delicious salad. I wanted to add some whelks: no problem! My wife does not eat fish and the halloumi salad was not available: no problem! She got a fantastic feta salad! Lisa is generous and easy going. I bought cooked smoked salmon to take away: OMG!! The best ever! No pretence, only good people and good food in a simple setting. Very good value. I highly recommend The Boathouse Fisheries and will no doubt go back for more.
My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful lunch there last week. We had the sharing platter n a lovely cuppa. Will defo go back. We also went on Friday and brought some fish, and I made a great fish pie with the mixed fish pieces. xx

So fresh and so delicious. Will make up what you want which in our case was large family size platters. There was even a bag of sourdough bread added to eat with ours. A very good family run business.
gorgeous fresh fish and amazing deli counter packed with lovelies quiches, smoked haddock scotch eggs,handpicked fresh crab AND they'll make you a fishy brunch too! The boathouse is easily the best wet fish shop around!
